Humeston Apr. 24, 1939 - July 16, 2013SOUTH BEND - Gladys Kathryn Humeston, 74, residing in South Bend, IN, formerly of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at 2:30 pm Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in her daughter's home. She was born April 24, 1939 in Burt, North Dakota, a daughter of Mike & Rosa (Reichert) Roll. She was one of fourteen children. She moved to South Bend in 1974 and worked at South Bend Drug Company for 15 years and then moved to MO. She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Cedar County Memorial Hospital following 20 years of service. She recently returned to South Bend to be near her family. She loved quilting, sewing, knitting and many crafts. She also loved spending time in Branson, MO. One of her favorite things was shopping and QVC. Christmas season was always her favorite time of the year. Gladys always put out her heart to everyone, making sure everyone's needs were taken care of. Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Dana (Robert) Gillespie of Mishawaka; Pamela (Phil) Ashton of Lakeville; five granddaughters, Brittany Eck of Indianapolis; Hannah and Chloe Eck , both of Lakeville; Ashley and Casey Kopriva, both of Mishawaka; a grandson, Anthony Kopriva, of South Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver & Alyssa Kopriva. She is also survived by five sisters, Delores Lee, Eva Zentner, both of North Dakota, Barbara Kautzman, Anne Kuntz, Viola Dauehauer, all of Montana; a brother, William Roll of El Dorado, Missouri and companion, William Treibe of Eldorado, Missouri . Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Rosella Schneider, Selma Roll and five brothers, Paul, John, Jerome, Martin and Sebastian Roll. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
