Ruth I. Marino
Ruth I. Marino, 70, of Dover died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.
She was a familiar face to area bowlers as for nearly 20 years Ruth ran the bar and grill room for Boulevard Lanes at Dover. She retired in 1996 from Dundee Grill where she had worked as a cook.
Born May 19, 1934, in the French Hills area in Bolivar, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Hall Grove.
Ruth was talented in the kitchen and always enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She also cherished time that she was able to spend with, and spoil, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest H. Schatzel and Robert Marino.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Slaight of Texas, Katherine (Norwood) Becker of Sugarcreek and Diana Jones of Texas; a son, Ernest (Debra) Schatzel Jr. of Dundee; 13 grandchildren, Tammy (Jody) Norman of Millersburg, Jimmy Hopkins of Alliance, Scott Hopkins of New Philadelphia, Casey Slaight, Cody Slaight and Felisha Folks, all of Texas, David Csonka of Alliance, Melinda and Cassaundra Becker of Sugarcreek, Jason (Tia) Schatzel and Seth Schatzel of Dundee and Angel (Frank) Connell and Crystal (Steve) Rowe, both of Texas; 10 great-grandchildren, Brittany Cox, Shylar Cox and Chase Norman, all of Millersburg, Brandon Schatzel, Preston Schatzel and Bailey Schatzel, all of Dundee, and Heather Cantu, Ryan Connell, Kayla Rowe and Tyler Rowe, all of Texas; a sister, Gloria Grove of Bolivar; and two brothers, Robert (Judy) Grove of Uhrichsville and Arthur Grove of Texas.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Billie Jo Jones; great-grandson, Shawn Hopkins; and two sisters, Pauline Fields and Virginia Grove.
A funeral service celebrating Ruth?s life will be conducted Monday, July 12, at 10 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover. Interment will be in the Dundee Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
