  [S927] Obituary. Eugene A. Christel Eugene A. Christel, 84, a resident of St. Mary's Nursing Home, Manitowoc and a former Kiel resident, died Friday morning, December 6, 2006 at St. Mary's Nursing Home. He was born June 6, 1923 in School Hill, son the late Edward & Ida Rabe Christel. Eugene was a Kiel High School graduated. He was a veteran of U.S. Army serving his country proudly during World War II. On May 7, 1949 he married Elaine Koeser in Elkhart Lake. Eugene was employed at Lake-to-Lake in Kiel for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elaine of Valders, three sons: Dale Christel, Chilton, Roger (Joanne) Christel, Valders, Scott (Lori) Christel, Valders and eight grandchildren: Tammy Vallesky, Keith Christel, Dale Christel Jr., Angie Houston, Eric Christel, Jessica Christel, Jana Christel and Sydney Christel. He is further survived by four great grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Alex, Katelyn and one brother, Melvin "Spitz" (Marion) Christel, Kiel. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. A funeral mass will celebrated on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. officiating Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
