Born Oct. 9, 1920, in China, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Anna (Bowman) Seese. She was also preceded in death by her husband, F. DeNeal Dean; one daughter, Lyn Dean; and one son, James F. Dean. Mrs. Dean was retired from teaching at Northern Middle School in Accident. She was a charter member of Oak Park Church of the Brethren, an active board member, a graduate of Bridgewater College, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Garrett Choral Society. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Anderson and husband Michael, Oakland, and Julia Dean Umbel and husband Ernest, Friendsville; two sisters, Sylvia Bieber, Allentown, Pa., and Patricia Heiney, Stevens, Pa; and six grandchildren, Daniel and Amy Umbel, Chloe and Alex Anderson, and Jamison and Savanna Dean. Friends were received at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Oak Park Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
