Obituary
Phyllis Marcella Herr Doyle Bertacchi was born in Wishek, North dakota to Edward and Magdalene (Hoff) Herr on February 20, 1917. They owned the Herr mercantile Company in Wishek, North Dakota. Phyllis passed away on march 7, 2011. She graduated from Wishek High School and North dakota State university where she majored in mathematics, science and home economics. She attended the University of Arizona, Tuscon's master's program in Education. Phyllis taught at schools in North dakota and California. Jerome and Phyllis Bertacchi were married at the Davis Monthan Air Force base, Tuscon, Arizona in August of 1951. Most recently through 1986, Phyllis taught classes in Algebra, Home Economics and Biology, Sciences and Mathematics. In 1987, Phyllis and her husband, jerome retired to travel with their Amateur Radio and Elks Lodge friends in their recreational vehicle. They enjoyed travels throughout the US and square dancing.
Her survivors include her children, James Doyle of Citrus heights,CA, Dr Gloria Freeman of Granite Bay,CA and Bryan Bertacchi of Danville,CA; her Grandchildren, Ann (Doyle) Stevens of Washougal, Washington, Elizabeth "Beth" (Doyle) Rowe of Vancouver, Washington, Jason Bertacchi of Danville, California and Kathryn Bertacchi of Santa Cruz, California., Her Great Grandchildren, include, Aiden, 10 years, Madeline, 9 months, Nicholas, 14 years and Michael, 12 years. and her Brother, Roger Herr.
Phyllis always wanted to be a physician. She would be most proud of her granddaughter, Kathryn Bertacchi who aspires to go to Medical School. We ask that donations be made to the private Grantor trust of KMB and the private Grantor Trust of JLB educational Trust Funds in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, march 11th from 4-7 P.M. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Lambert Funeral home Chapel, 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville,CA. Following the Rosary a wake will be held at the home of Dr gloria Freeman in Granite Bay, CA. On saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3235 Arden Way in Sacramento,California. A reception will follow the Mass at Matteo's on 5132 Arden Way, Sacramento,CA. Interment will take place on Monday, march 14th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at calvary catholic Cemetery in the St Theresa section in a crypt in a private ceremony.
