Ackerman, 83, of 630 Lewisville Road, Woodsfield, Ohio died Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was born near Lewisville, Ohio (Monroefield) on March 12, 1927 a son of the late Benjamin P. Ackerman. He was a 50 year owner and operator of Lester?s Body Shop, Woodsfield, Ohio; a member of Ozark Church of Christ, Ozark, Ohio, and a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Walter Ackerman. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Tidd Ackerman whom he married on July 12,1947; one daughter, Sharon (Mitch) Fetzer of Woodsfield, Ohio; one son, John (Barb) Ackerman of Woodsfield, Ohio; one sister, Leota (Willie) Buss of Apple Creek, Ohio; one brother, Edward Ackerman of Lewisville, Ohio; four grandchildren: Mike (Jennifer) Fetzer, Jamie (Brad) Foster, Jennifer (Scott) Whatley, and Heather (Jeremy) Powell; seven great grandchildren: Kason and Caleb Powell, Madelyn and Andrew Foster, Morgan and Evan Fetzer, and Julia Whatley; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 S.R. 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Kim McFarland officiating.
