WOODSFIELD - Rita M. Singleton, 67, of Woodsfield, died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 1, 1934, in Woodsfield, daughter of the late Herbert and Stella (Bing) Schumacher.
Mrs. Singleton retired from the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, where she served as a certified nursing assistant.
She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where she was also a member of the Purgatorial Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Singleton, who died April 8, 1997; a brother, Elmer Schumacher; and a grandson, Christopher Reed.
She leaves two daughters, Kathy Singleton of Woodsfield and Mrs. Larry (Cindy) Stephen of Boston; two sons, Patrick (Sharon) Singleton and Matthew (Sherri) Singleton, both of Woodsfield; a brother, Roger Schumacher of Woodsfield; nine grandchildren, Madeline Singleton, Adam Reed, Kyle Singleton, Tim Woodell, Jeff Woodell, John Schumacher, Tiffany Stephen, Katelyn Stephen and Lance Schumacher; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield. A vigil service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with the Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik serving as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery.
