Martin Schnabel, 75, of Fort Collins, died Sept. 18, 2005, in Fort Collins.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
Martin Schnabel was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Eureka, S.D., to Lydia Maisch and Gottfried Schnabel. He married Delores Magdelena Bertsch on Nov. 15, 1953, in Eureka, S.D.
Martin was very close to his 10 siblings. He was a hard worker and loved his wife and kids. He was always there for his family. Martin always put others first. Martin was very creative and never wanted to impose on anyone, he could fix anything except himself. He was not a selfish man and his day never ended. He was very health-conscious and was always willing to help. Martin was a sergeant in the Army and served during the Korean War for 13 months. He was a member of the VFW Fred Weller Post 186 and a lifelong member of the American Legion in Eureka, S.D.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Schnabel, of Fort Collins; sons, Tim and wife Diana Schnabel, David and wife Shawn Schnabel, and Steve Schnabel, all of Fort Collins; daughters, Cheryl and husband Miles Austin of Redmond, Wash.; five sisters; four brothers; and grandchildren, Jason, Tyler, Lindsay Austin and Kenny Schnabel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene Herman.
