August 15, 2010. Suddenly and peacefully at home. Predeceased by James "Bud" Huether, her loving husband of 56 years; her parents, Fred and Irene Blind; her brother, Carl Blind. Survived by her loving children, Bonnie (Ed) Wurtz, Greg (Cindy) Huether; grandchildren, James (Sarah) Wurtz, Jennifer (Richard) Watson, Courtney and Mickey Huether; and great-grandchild, Benjamin Watson and his soon to arrive baby brother. Survived by her sister, Shirley Quigley of Colorado Springs; sisters-in-law, Sister Dolores Anne Huether, SSJ, and Bernardine (Ralph) Gordon; and many dear nieces and nephews; and by dear and special friends Betty Allison and Nancy Brown.
Mary was born and raised in Rochester, New York. She attended St. Augustine's Church and school, and graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1940. Mary worked as a secretary in several companies, retiring from Waldert's Opticians. She and Bud were married in 1946 and were among the pioneering families of St. Helen Church in Gates. She served as a volunteer in the St. Helen Altar Society, church re-construction committee and St. Mary's Hospital.
Most importantly, Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a special style, grace, warmth, and caring for others that showed in everything she did. She will always be remembered for her wonderful smile, sense of humor, constant thoughtfulness and caring nature. She had a quiet and constant faith in God and her religion. Her family was the center of her life, and she cherished being a devoted and loving wife and mother. She handled all
challenges with grace and dignity, and her acceptance of life's challenges reflected her faith in the Lord and belief in life ever after.
Her family takes comfort in the support of all family and friends who share in the happiness of knowing that she and Bud are together again.
Friends may call at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road (between English and Latta Rd.) on Thursday, from 1-4 PM, and 6-8 PM. A celebration of Mary's life will be on Friday morning at 11 AM at St. Helen Church, 310 Hinchey Road, Gates, followed by her entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Mary's request was that in lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make a donation to the St. Helen Church Memorial Fund, or to a charity of their choice in Mary's name and memory.
