HIEB, Theodore ?Ted? , of Loveland. Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials to American Cancer Society in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
Theodore ?Ted? HIEB 74, of Loveland, died May 28, 2005, at McKee Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1930, in Bismark, N.D. to Conrad Hieb and Martha (Bender) Hieb. He married Hattie Obenchain on Oct. 18, 1953, in Jamestown, N.D.
He came to Loveland in 1980 from Aberdeen, S.D. He worked for the Thompson School District and the city of Loveland as a truck driver for 16 years. He was a member of the Mount Olive Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea and received a Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, a National Defense Service Medal and a United Nations Service Medal.
He is survived by his son, Rodney L. Gowen and his wife Linda, of Oregon City, Ore.; daughter, Kathie Stephenson and her husband Emmett, of Loveland; brothers, Fred Hieb and wife Lois, of Jamestown, N.D., Edwin Hieb and wife Loretta, of Jamestown, N.D., Clayton Hieb and wife Peggy, of Rapid City, S.D., John Hieb and wife Carol, of New Hope, Minn., and Melvin Hieb and wife Marybeth, of Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Elsie Trueblood and husband Loren, of Garrison, N.D.; and half-sisters, Elvina Peterson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Hertha Mayer of Roscoe, S.D.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, including Laura Gowen, Terri Gowen, Tad Hendrickson, Tess Swenson, Jewell Freel and Louis Taylor; and 17 great-grandchildren, including Shauna Myers, Alayna Myers, Ben Myers, Mykal Swenson, Crysta Swenson, Raven Hendrickson, Mikaela Hendrickson and Jaden Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, two half-sisters, and two sons, Conrad John Hieb and Theodore James Hieb.
Viewing is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Viegut Funeral Home, 1440 N. Boise Ave. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3411 S. Taft Ave., with the Rev. John Isreal and the Rev. Clayton Hein. Cremation will follow services with burial at Viegut Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
