Mildred B. CarnesWest Deer
Mildred B. (Zwergel) Carnes, 85, of West Deer, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. She was born Thursday, Dec. 4, 1919, in Pittsburgh to the late Anthony and Barbara (Schuck) Zwergel. She worked for 20 years part-time at Sears while raising her family and maintaining their home. She belonged to the Women of the Moose Lodge 46 and was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered at many functions at church and school. Mrs. Carnes was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by family, friends and her church community. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Carnes. They were married Sept. 5, 1942. Also surviving are her daughters, Barbara (Myles) Vogel, of Baltimore, Md., Elizabeth (Patrick) Laughlin, of Lancaster, and Patricia (Paul) Bridge, of Georgetown, Ky.; her sons, William (Barbara) Carnes, of Lancaster, and Michael (Michele) Carnes, of Tarentum; her brother, Paul Zwergel; her 17 grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Bernard Zwergel. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton, www.kingfuneralhome.com <http://www.kingfuneralhome.com/>. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, Hampton. Interment will be in Christ Our Redeemer (North Side Catholic) Cemetery, Ross.
