    Henry August Stein, Jr., 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. Henry had worked as an electrician and in air conditioning at Captain Coal Mine. He had also worked at Taylor Brothers in Tamaroa and the Chevrolet Garage in Du Quoin. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and UMW of A. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W. W. II. He was an avid bird hunter. He was born May 26, 1928 at Du Quoin, the son of Henry August and Catherine (Seibert) Stein. He married Helen Schafer on October 16, 1948 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and she survives. He is also survived by one sister, Lillian Newcomb of Dowell, as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter in infancy and three sisters, Emma Funk, Catherine Moore, and Bertha Stuber. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin
    Memorials can be made to Fairview Nursing Center, Masses or Sacred Heart Programs and will be accepted at the funeral home. Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of the arrangements.
