    Sister Carol Reeb Sister Carol Reeb, SSND, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the School Sister of Notre Dame Motherhouse in St. Louis, Mo., from cancer. She was 58 and a former provincial councilor and educator. Her previous religious name was Sister Carolyn Maureen. Sister Carol was born and raised in Belleville, Ill. She entered the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1967 and professed her final vows in 1976. She earned a master of science in education science in 1982 from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and a bachelor of science in chemistry from the former Notre Dame College in St. Louis, Mo., in 1971. Sister Carol was in leadership as a member of the provincial council for the St. Louis Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame from 1999 to 2007. She was currently on sabbatical at the SSND Motherhouse. Previously, Sister Carol was in education for 28 years at schools in Missouri, Illinois and California. She began teaching in 1971 at St. Peter in St. Charles, Mo. She taught secondary students at Quincy Notre Dame High School in Quincy, Ill., from 1973 to 1977; St. Anthony High School in Effingham, Ill., from 1977 to 1986; and Our Lady of Loretto-Bishop Conaty High School in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1986 to 1999. During her eight years of Provincial Leadership, Sister Carol was an active member of Region X of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, serving as secretary for three years. She served on the board of Marian Middle School, and she was active with the Intercommunity Ecological Council and Metropolitan Congregations United in St. Louis. Sister Carol is survived by her father, Raymond (the late Helen) Reeb, of Wichita, Kan.; three sisters, Sue (Myron) Willhite of Leon, Kan., Rosie (Lester) Brungardt of Wichita, and Barbara (Kit) Bergman of Overland Park, Kan.; and a brother, Richard (Christine) Reeb of Madison, Wis. She also has relatives living in Belleville, Mascoutah and Chicago, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Resource Development, 320 E. Ripa Ave., St. Louis, Mo., 63125-2897. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, Motherhouse Chapel, 320 E. Ripa Ave. in south St. Louis County. Funeral: Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the Motherhouse Chapel, south St. Louis County. Sister Carol donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

    Mildred Reeb Mildred A. Reeb, nee Schindler, 88, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 26, 1919, in Belleville, Ill., died Sunday April 20, 2008, at the Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah, Ill. Mrs. Reeb worked for Etlinger-Fries, a John Deere dealer, for nine years. In later years, after her brother, Monsignor Clem Schindler, was named founding pastor of St. Albert the Great Church in Fairview Heights, Ill., she worked as the parish secretary at St. Albert's for 22 years. Mildred was a lifelong member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., where she was a quilter for many years. She was a past president of the Perpetual Help Society and a member of the Catholic Knights & Ladies of Illinois. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara, nee Amann, Schindler; three brothers, Monsignor Clement Schindler, Fred Schindler, and Raymond Schindler; a sister, Loretta Witt; a brother-in-law, Joseph Witt; four sisters-in-law, Florence, Alma, Margaret, and Mildred Schindler; two nephews, James Witt and Donald Schindler; and a niece, Kathy Archibald. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph P. Reeb, whom she married Jan. 19, 1944; a son, Dr. Ronald J. (Mary) Reeb of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, JoAnn (Dennis) Hays of Waterloo, Ill., and Mary Beth (Richard) Schilling of Smithton, Ill.; eight grandchildren, R.J. (Jessica) Reeb, Rebecca (Ryan) McCall, Robyn (Kevin) Mendenhall, Bryan (Kathleen) Hays, Kym (Stacey) Tockstein, Richard Jr. (Marie) Schilling, Todd Schilling, and Kyle Schilling; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Schindler of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Dolores (Norman) Geolat of Belleville, Ill., and Dorothy (Paul Jean) Christophe of Smithton, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the St. Teresa Building Fund or in the form of Masses.
