Tom, Maybe this is of no interest but perhaps it is. Earlier you mentioned that Josephine Judd was not a Swiss name and you were correct. Looking through old papers, I discovered Josephine's name was actually spelled JUD. This is what I discovered about Jud: JUD 1. Swiss German and Slovenian: ethnic nickname meaning "Jew" 2.
