    ERVIN E. AND LEONORA MARTEL Ervin E. and Leonora Martel Ervin E. Martel was born October 22, 1920 to Albert P. and Paulina (Preszler) Martel of Eureka. He had one brother, Stanley, deceased. His father was born December 23, 1898 and died July 30, 1980. His mother, Paulina, was born July 8, 1900 and is presently retired in Eureka. On May 23, 1943, Ervin married Leonora Dammel, daughter of Jacob and Eva (Kirschenmann) Dammel, of Eureka. Leonora was born November 15, 1921, and had six brothers and sisters, Martha Hoffman, Ramona Olson, Sam, Leo, Milton and Ed Dammel. Her father, Jacob, was born March 15, 1887 in Russia and died July 1, 1934. Her mother, Eva, was born July 8, 1892 in Hosmer. Eva is currently retired. Ervin and Leonora have two children, Gloria and Bonnie. Gloria was born September 22, 1944 and married Harley Ulmer. They had six children, LaDonna, LaNette, Rodney, Ross and Russell (triplets) and Leta. Russell died October 4, 1964. Harley died on January 2, 1973. Gloria married Mervin Mullner on December 10, 1976. They farm near Frederick, South Dakota. Bonnie was born October 1, 1954. On August 16, 1974, she married Tim Serr of Eureka. They have one son, Timothy Robert, Jr. Tim owns and operates an auto body shop with his father, and Bonnie is employed at the Eureka Hospital. Ervin and Leonora have two children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They are affiliated with the Eureka Reformed Church. Ervin was an elder in the Reformed Church, has been on the rural school board and an F.H.A. director. Leonora is active in the Eureka Reformed Ladies Aid. Ervin and Leonora have been life-long farmers. They are currently living in Eureka.

    Albert and Paulina Martel On December 19, 1919 Albert married Paulina Preszler daughter of Adam and Magdalena (Spitzer) Preszler. She was born July 8, 1900 in Eureka. She had seven brothers and sisters, Magdalena Hoff, Katherina Hauck, Christina Stoebner, Barbara Bender, and Adam, Daniel and Fred Preszler. Paulina's father, Adam, was born February 10, 1861 and died March 9, 1932. Her mother, Magdalena, was born September 10, 1863 and died September 27, 1931. Both parents were born in Russia and came to the Eureka area in 1881. Albert and Paulina had two children, Ervin and Stanley. Ervin was born October 22, 1920 and married Leonora Dammel on May 23, 1943. They have two children, Gloria, born September 22, 1944 and Bonnie, born October 1, 1954. Ervin and Leonora are living in Eureka. Stanley was born September, 1936 and died December, 1936. Albert and Paulina were lifetime farmers. Albert died July 30, 1980. Paulina is living in Eureka. During his lifetime, Albert was a member of the Reformed Church Council, telephone director, and rural school board member. Paulina is a member of the Reformed Church ladies aid and Eureka Hospital Auxiliary.

    JACOB AND EVA DAMMEL

    Jacob and Eva Dammel

    Jacob Dammel was born March 15, 1887 in Russia to John and Christina Dammel. He
    had two brothers, Daniel and Israel, and one sister, Louisa Schumacher.

    On January 13, 1913, Jacob married Eva Kirschenmann, daughter of Christian and
    Philipina (Walz) Kirschenmann. Eva was born July 8, 1892 in Hosmer, South
    Dakota. She had four brothers, John, Fred, Gottlieb and Christian, and four
    sisters, Katherine Eisenbeisz, Magdalena Kurle, Christina Dammel and Martha
    Wiedrich.

    Eva's father, Christian, was born August 15, 1851 in South Russia and died June
    27, 1928. Philipina was born May 3, 1852 and died November 23, 1934. They came
    to the Hosmer area in 1884.

    Jacob and Eva are affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Jacob died July
    1, 1934. Eva is active in ladies aid and choir and is currently living at the
    Lutheran Home.

    Jacob and Eva had seven children, Samuel, Leo, Martha, Ramona, Leonora, Milton
    and Edwin.

    Samuel was born September 17, 1914, and he married Theresa Friedle on August
    25, 1940. He died in an elevator accident in Redfield on June 3, 1957. They had
    three children, Charlotte, Connie and Patricia.

    Leo was born October 10, 1915 and married Viola Schock on October 24, 1943.
    They have two children, Dennis and Linda, and reside in Eureka.

    Martha was born August 5, 1917 and was married to John Retzer. John died August
    25, 1968. They had one son, Lester. She married August Hoffman on July 19, 1975.

    Ramona was born November 24, 1919. She married Gustave Neuharth who died
    September 25, 1960. They had three children, Patricia, Douglas and Sandra. She
    married Ray Olson in 1969.

    Leonora was born November 15, 1922 and married Ervin Martel on October 22,
    1920. They have two children, Gloria and Bonnie.

    Milton was born November 15, 1924 and died November 16, 1924.

    Edwin was born April 3, 1929. He married Darvilla Hoffman on June 21, 1953.
    They have two children, Kurt and Kenneth.

    Eva has seven children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and
    two great-great grandchildren.

    Jakob married Eva Kirschenmann on 13 Jan 1913.
